Monastic Residences in the Limestone Quarries

North of the chapel and shrine, there is considerable evidence of adaptive reuse of the quarries for monastic residences

In all liklihood, this northern area formed part of the laura associated with the chapel. A number of niches had been cut into the walls of the quarries, pointing to the reuse of the area for residential purposes.

Also documented in this area was a large inscribed cross.
